The Flavour of Yorkshire GoldYorkshire Gold is the working name of a Folk Dance Band comprising Jan Porter and Nigel Swan from The Polka Dots with Heather Hazell and Chas Marshall from Hop Back Jig and the Village Hop Band. The band was formed to promote and stage its own "themed" ceilidh dance evenings at the Stainbeck Community Hall in Leeds (LS7 2EA). These evenings, while being for the most part ceilidh dancing, include other entertainments in the form of songs, recitations, monologues, melodramas and the like. There are usuallly items from invited guests such as clog dancing from Clogarhythm and Longsword dancing from the P.R.A.T.S. Most of the items are chosen to contribute to the flavour or theme of the evening. Spot prizes, raffle prizes and decor are also chosen with a similar flavour. Next themed ceilidh: May We Dance? A Springtime soiree with country dances, top tunes,
seasonal songs, and carefully selected novelties To contact Yorkshire Gold about tickets, the band or events, please telephone Jan Porter on 0113 268 0584.
